While other bed frames give way at around 200 kg, we set ourselves an “over-the-top” stress test. No computer simulations and no estimates: we took a VW Golf 5, put two people in it and parked it right on the frame of our bed — a massive 1,400 kg load.
Spoiler alert: the wood didn’t even flinch. Zero millimetres of deformation. All the magic comes from our favourite technique: classic mortise-and-tenon joints, made so precisely that they need no screws or glue to hold everything together. Just pure physics, stubborn solid wood and raw strength that simply plays with the limits.
A bed is the only piece of furniture you entrust your body to completely, every night, for a third of your life. It deserves to be made once, properly, so you never need to replace it.
Every Massif bed comes to life from a stack of solid European wood and a precise technical drawing. We don’t keep products in warehouses and we don’t work to standardised sizes — nothing is mass-produced, everything is made exactly for you.
Solid ash, oak or mahogany. No MDF, no plywood and no chipboard hidden behind the claim of an authentic product. Our joints are made using traditional joinery techniques, modernised (mortise and tenon) — no hidden staples or visible screws.
Eight skilled hands and a workshop just outside Timișoara. We sand the wood to 320 grit, then finish it with two coats of polyurethane lacquer — the toughest protective layer possible. Finally, we inspect every frame individually, strictly following our high quality standards.
The bed is designed to be assembled quickly and intuitively where it’s going — with no special tools you don’t already have at home, and no unpleasant surprises.
